Greetings from Beijing!
DEHS has arrived safely, all the air travel went very smoothly, our group visa process went very smoothly, and everything has been on time! We landed at 2:20pm Wednesday in Beijing which was 2:20am Wednesday PA time. We arrived at the Beijing International Hotel by 4:20.
Emily is our tour guide and she met us at baggage claim, and she's already filled us in on cultural things on our 45 minute bus ride to the hotel. We are getting some freshening up time in the hotel before we leave for dinner at 6:00 at a local restaurant.
We got three meals on the plane, plus snacks, plus lots to drink. They showed "King Kong", "Wimbledon", and a children's Chinese film on the flight. We were on a 747, but weren't allowed to "explore" the upper floor. Turbulence wasn't too bad. Our route took us over the Yukon border in Canada, north of the Bering Strait, and over Siberia and headed south to Beijing. When there were breaks in the clouds we saw Arctic ice floes, but not much chance to see much.
We briefly met the choir from Eugene, Oregon who arrived with us at the airport. We'll see them at rehearsal tomorrow, and at dinner tomorrow night.
EVERYONE is doing great, lots of smiles, and even though we're exhausted and tired swollen legs from the plane, we're in good spirits and ready for a good night sleep to start our day off tomorrow at the Forbidden City.
Hugs to everyone back home, and continued prayers for Dr.Moll!!! We're thinking about you!
